Halloween just about anywhere is pretty fun in my opinion. And of course, Las Vegas does it their own special way just like everything else about this town. These are a selection of images from the parade held on the special night of the 31st. Thanks for looking.
I feel bad not having updated this in quite some time. I get a nice momentum going, and then life steps in the way. Whether that step is a busy job keeping me busy during the time that I would normally be out shooting or simply having other tasks that needed attended to, it’s time to get back at it. Having this as an outlet to post images and design work, I love keeping this as up-to-date as possible.
This is a series of images that I took yesterday (Dec. 25) morning before the streets filled up with cars and traffic and the daily routine. This shows the city in a much quieter moment when the hustle of everyday life is briefly paused.
The Mohawk books great bands. Or, at least I think so. Last night was no different in that I got to see a show that I’ve been wanting to see for a long time, Bob Log III. It was a great show – tons of energy, packed with people and friends to share it with. I wish that I would have been just a little closer to the stage, but since I’m 6’4, I don’t like to block people behind me. So here are a few shots from Bob Log III playing the Mohawk.

Here is a heavy-duty inflatable boat / raft that people were tossing around. I thought it might take down some of the overhead lighting. Security was not impressed.
Overall it was a great show and I can’t wait to get the chance to see him again.
I had the pleasure of shooting We Are Hex last night at Elysium in Austin for SXSW 2011. It was a short show so not a ton of images, but I think that these turned out well.
Austinites really know how to party. I went downtown to Sixth street last night to document the happenings of Fat Tuesday. People packed the street and loud rhythmic drum beats and music came out of the front doors and open windows of the many bars and restaurants lining the thoroughfare. Police stood guard and watched as the mass of people moved from place to place stopping to trade beads for quick glimpses of some women showing their chests for the shiny reward. Bright lights, the aroma’s of food vendors on the street and the smell of alcohol permeated the air as people continued to celebrate into the early morning hours. These images are from about midnight until 1:45am.
Hopefully it won’t take me as long to update this in the future!
This past weekend was pretty swell. It included serving enchilada’s while wearing a fake mustache at work, and being able to photograph the madness of downtown Austin, Texas during Halloween – which I soon found out is one of the most beloved holidays in the capital city.
My camera that I normally shoot with is in the shop for repair, so I’ve been shooting with my first DSLR. This baby still rocks it, just on a much slower pace. I actually kind of enjoyed shooting with it as it made me less reliant on the computer part of the camera and made me get back to focusing on making the best images that I could. I’ve always been under the school of thought that it isn’t what camera you have, but rather what you can do with what you’ve got.
So here are some of my favorite images from the night that people let it all hang out. Literally.
So last Friday night I had the chance to see a show I’ve wanted to see for a long time, Scott Biram playing live. Biram plays this old 1930s style dirty delta blues, but all originals and it’s oh-so-good. A couple other bands opened up for him, but I only caught one called Black Eyed Vermillion who were really good too. It has really been nice moving to Austin and having all of this live music around. I miss being able to play with the fella’s I left back in Indiana a lot, but going to shows like this makes up for it a little.

So this couple was just getting their picture taken in front of Biram while he was playing and I think it turned out nice.
I got to see one of my favorite bands a few days ago, and they did not disappoint. Ween played for more than two hours in a venue that holds no more than a few hundred people, and performed many of the songs that my friends and I wanted to hear. With Dean up there killing it on the guitar and Gene right beside him singing songs like Johnny On The Spot and Spinal Meningitis, the evening was chock-full of songs off of most all of their albums.
I’ve only been able to see them once before, and this show was definitely better than the last. Indianapolis gave the kind of response to a live show that would make anybody want to trade places with whomever was on stage that night. Lucky for me I’m tall and was able to bring my camera in, and got some really nice pictures.

Muncie, Indiana has a few notable things about it: It was studied in the 1960’s as Middletown, USA, it has one of the best beer bars in central Indiana and once a year Muncie Gras takes place (Muncie’s take on the famous raucous holiday). Well, this year because of the snowy weather that has blasted through the local terrain, Muncie Gras has been postponed until next month. Having said that, some of the events that were scheduled still went on as planned. And I was on hand to capture it.

The first punk rock night at The Melody Inn in Indianapolis of the year and of the decade for that matter was last night. And it was not a disappointment. One of my good friends’ band, Cmndr, played along with another band from Dayton, Ohio called Rad Company. I love watching shows here, and the only real complaint I have is that drinks are kinda pricey. I mean three bucks for a tall PBR? That’s a bit over the top, but what are you gonna do.
